Hey Everyone:

We've got the third installment of the Developer Q&A series for you today. Take a look!

Also, in preparation for Q&A #4 -- We'd like to focus your questions on the SIngle Player Campaign and Terrain Deformation. So if you've got questions about those topics fire away. Post your questions here or in the Discussion Forum.

Fracture’s Pacifican soldiers look very similar to the soldiers from another upcoming game! Conspiracy, example of Convergent “Artistic” Evolution or mere coincidence?

Both the enemy and friendly character models in Fracture have gone through a number of iterations on color and design. We wanted the characters’ looks to communicate story elements, but needed to ensure gameplay wasn’t adversely affected. For example, it was important for Pacificans’ armor to look organic and be part of their bodies, and not look like a suit that can be taken off. Initially we tried making the armor look like a bone material, but it ended up having a negative effect on the gameplay. The Pacifican soldiers would blend into the environment, and players would become frustrated because they couldn’t see the enemies at all. Eventually we arrived at the current coloration which still looks organic, but also stands out in each of the environments.

Are there going to be any changes to the animated walk cycle of Fracture characters? Are they moving a bit oddly or is that the third-person camera?

Because Fracture won’t be releasing until October, we are continuing to polish all the art and animations in the game. As we get closer to our launch date, we will be releasing updated footage of the game that shows off the improvements we continue to make in the quality of the game.

Will Fracture characters be able to sprint, duck, dodge and roll? Sorta like the controls in Star Wars Battlefront.

From the very beginning of the game, Jet will be able to perform a variety of physical moves such as sprint, duck, jump and punch. As players progress through the campaign, Jet will receive additional cybernetic augmentations that will enhance his existing abilities, and provide him with new maneuvers to help him evade and assault the enemy.

The Pacificans seem to be able to jump high and have super strength, but what else can they do?

There are many different types of Pacifican soldiers that players will encounter as they progress through the game. The genetic alterations will range from having enhanced abilities like running faster and jumping higher, to enemies that no longer resemble humans. An example is the “creeper”, a genetic experiment gone awry. Creepers are very scary creatures that will burrow under the terrain to ambush unsuspecting soldiers from below.

How about the Atlantic Alliance – what can their soldiers (Jet Brody) do? Will they be able to make shields or fly with a jetpack because that would be really cool!?

Jet Brody will receive cybernetic augmentations to enhance his abilities throughout the game. He will receive shield upgrades, inventory upgrades, and physical ability upgrades such as improved strength and the ability to jump higher. Unfortunately there won’t be a jetpack in the game.

How is Jet Brody “different” from the other Atlantic Alliance soldiers and personnel? Does he have any special abilities? Is he “The One”?

Jet Brody specializes in terrain deformation, which sets him apart from the majority of Atlantic Alliance soldiers. He has been augmented with the entrencher that uniquely allows him to deform the terrain more rapidly and easily than other soldiers on the battlefield. All soldiers can use grenades to deform the terrain, but the ammo is limited. Also, because the entrencher does not have the damaging effect that grenades do, Jet will be able to safely make cover close by, or use the force of the terrain to perform moves like the entrencher jump.

Will Fracture feature split screen multiplayer, co-op or other similar modes? How many players can play in each of the modes?

Fracture will feature online multiplayer that supports up to 12 players at a time. We have a variety of game-modes planned, many of which will have a unique “TD” twist.

Will Pacificans in multiplayer have any special genetic abilities, such as being able to jump high or run very fast?

Players will be able to pick up several augmentations located throughout the multiplayer maps. There will be a variety available ranging from shield upgrades to super strength, just to name a few. Players on both sides will be able to pick up these character enhancements, resulting in some very hectic and satisfying multiplayer matches.
